Cruising Comic - The Human Sushi Roll

The only thing that makes me consider looking at buying another boat is Sea Monkey’s talent for getting up a good roll when a swell comes into a anchorage in the middle of the night. We met a couple of cruisers in Langkawi who also live on a 41ft Morgan OutIsland who have solved the shallow draft issue by purchasing a stabiliser. They said it cut the roll down by 80%! It’s now on my wish list!

Sailing comic - ‘Minimalist Cruising Fail’ by Sarah Steenland The Cruising Cartoonist

I like the idea of being a minimalist. I think it could be easier for land based travellers, but when you have to carry everything to be self sustainable, plus all the water sport toys, books and duty free booze to keep you entertained, it's pretty hard to call myself a minimalist cruiser!

If it's not the swell hitting the hull broadside at anchor (Sea Monkey rolls like a b*tch because of our shallow 1.2m draft), it's usually some tinging or banging noise that I can never find!

Earplugs are now my new friend.
